Dr. Sara Ruby is our new Pediatric Dentist at Miracle Dental Associates. We are excited for her to join our team with compassionate manner and her years in practice in dentistry. Dr. Ruby earned her Bachelors in Biology in 1999 from the University of Pittsburgh. Not only did she know she had an interest in dentistry from an early age, she also assisted many dentists before starting her career in dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine (UPSDM), earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2004.
After Dental School, Dr. Ruby completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) Certificate at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and University Medical Center in 2005. In this residency, Dr. Ruby was able to focus on treating patients with compromised medical histories and young children. She then practiced in the state of Ohio under a great mentor to sharpen her skills until returning to Pittsburgh, where she practiced general dentistry for 11 years. During this time, Dr. Ruby, was a member of many dental societies, including president of the New Castle Dental Society. She continues to be a part of organized dentistry with active memberships to the American Dental Association (ADA), American Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Dental Society of Western Pennsylvania (WPDA), and American Academy Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). Her participation with these organizations, along with mentoring dental students and new dentists, is an important marker of her continued commitment to the field, highlighting a lifetime of learning and passion. She also volunteers in community service events where she can donate her time to provide free dental services for adults and children.
In 2016, Dr. Ruby decided to pursue a specialization in Pediatric Dentistry due to her passion for treating young children. She returned to UPSDM to obtain a Pediatric Dentistry Certificate and finished the program in 2018. She has experience treating infants, children, adolescents, and special needs patients – all populations who require a great deal of care, patience, and heart alongside specialized training.
